Press clippings regarding World War One correspondence. 1916-1927.

Press clippings of published personal letters written by Captain Stanley Cocking while serving overseas, November 1916-September 1917, and undated. Letters were published as articles in the Castlemaine Mail. The articles describe a banquet in the trenches in France, give Cocking's views on how long the War will last, describe a battle at Bullecourt, reflect on the effect of war on mankind, and describe a soccer match in England. They also describe conditions in the trenches in France, the death of a fellow soldier, and a violent artillery bombardment on the Somme. The original letters were addressed to Cocking's relatives in Castlemaine. Also, clippings from the Herald (Melbourne), written by a War Correspondent (Ellis Ashmead-Bartlett) 4-5 May 1927, analysing the Gallipoli Campaign of 1915.
